Best Cure For The Common Cold

sick

The best cure for a common cold?

Shut up.  Sit down.  Watch a movie.

Sick in bed?

Same thing.  Cancel everything, curl up in bed, and watch movies all day.

Sick is sick.  Period.  Done.

So what if the kids eat cold Cap’n Crunch cereal for a day? So what if work needs you.   When you are sick, you are worth nothing if you don’t take care of you.

Last time I was sick I just happened to catch a movie on TV and to this day it still comes to my mind, making it one of my all time favorite movies ever.

Best parts:
The story is life and humanity at it’s best.  It’s also old movie making made perfect.  Sometimes no words are said and you know exactly how each character is feeling.  Movie makers today assume audiences are stupid and ‘explain’ everything.

Bad Parts:
The story is both happy and sad.  If you are human, at both you will cry.  If you are in any way ‘stuffy,’ this combo makes for a physical nightmare.  (I’d still watch it.  It’s that good!)

Les Misérables is a 1935 American drama film starring Fredric March and Charles Laughton based upon the famous Victor Hugo novel of the same name. The movie was adapted by W. P. Lipscomb and directed by Richard Boleslawski. This was the last film for 20th Century Pictures before it merged with Fox Film Corporation to form 20th Century Fox

The film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture and the Academy Award for Film Editing. The National Board of Review named the film the sixth best of 1935.
