Amber Alerts On My Phone Make Me Feel….How?

amber alert

How?

Can you answer the title question?

I did!  Just this morning my phone blared loudly as if there was an emergency.

amber alertThat my phone was broken and spasming to yell for me!  My first feeling was fear.  When I reached my phone I saw the little text in bold “Amber Alert!”

My very next thought was, “How cool…that someone took a child and we have this amazing system in place to get everyone in our state, at the same exact moment, with the same information, to be prepared to look up into the world and surroundings for this Tan car holding a child hostage!”

How cool!!   How clever!!  How amazing!!

It’s like we are all a team of detectives and all we have to do is look around and keep our eyes open for this one bad guy!!  All of us…like a silent army!  It’s so exciting, it makes the little hairs on my arm stand up!

Then I thought (you know how that happens in like .003 seconds after you had that first thought?) there must be some people out there (un-parental) (unhappy) (strangely out of touch) who saw the same emergency-help-to-a-little-child text and thought, “Ugh!  Get a life!  Please do not bother me with something that is so not in my life or control! People just need to watch their kids!  Like I’m really going to remember or even notice a tan van drive by me? Don’t waste my time! Please!”

I honestly don’t know anyone like that.  (Or maybe I do and they just hide this part of themselves?)  The mere thought of that makes me sad.

Either way, I’m glad so glad this Amber system is in place!  What if it was my child?  There would be an army of eyes going from the notice on their cell phones to the eyes of the world!

The AMBER Alert System began in 1996 when Dallas-Fort Worth broadcasters teamed with local police to develop an early warning system to help find abducted children. AMBER stands for America’s Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response and was created as a legacy to 9-year-old Amber Hagerman, who was kidnaped while riding her bicycle in Arlington, TX, and then brutally murdered. Other states and communities soon set up their own AMBER plans as the idea was adopted across the nation.

Sadly in California, with the free thinkers and believers of entitlement and that “Me-Me-Me” mentality, our alerts are high.
